Simplified Approach To Achieving Your Practice Goals:

- Set the Goal
- Know Why You Want To Achieve This Goal (It will keep you going when the going gets tough)
- List the Main Tasks (or highest value tasks that will get you there. Most big goals have multiple “Hows” that you need to execute on)
- Employ the 12:3:1 Formula for effective execution on each of the “Hows” in step 3
Example:
Goal: Increase the revenue of my practice by 40%
Why: To increase my financial freedom and provide for my family (give them opportunities I did not have)
How:
-Hire a coach or join a mastermind
-Improve my leadership
-Create a positive and supportive office culture
-50 new patients per month
-Begin performing: implants, ortho, and cosmetic dentistry in the practice
-Measure my practices performance and profitability metrics (call conversion, treatment conversion, re-appointment rates, attrition, overhead expenses etc.)
-Ongoing training for my team: phone skills, customer service, treatment presentation
12:3:1 Formula for effective execution
12: make a list of 12 HOWS. Some tasks have 50 or more so now you must narrow it down to your 12 highest value tasks or your 12 most important HOWS
3: Pick the 3 that you will start with today (these are your highest value tasks for the next quarter/3 months)
1: Ask yourself: if I was going away for a while which of these 3 would I implement to help me take one big leap towards achieving this goal? This is your highest value task for this month. Next month you ask yourself the same question and the 3rd month you do the last HOW from the list of 3.
THIS IS HOW YOU DEVOUR AN ELEPHANT:
1 BITE AT A TIME. You must use the 12:3:1 Formula. If you don’t know where to start ask someone that has already done this. A mentor (coach, family member, or friend). The 12:3:1 formula is not just for huge projects or massive goals. It can be used as a tool to break down any task in executable components.
Ninja Tip: USE THIS 12:3:1 next time you go to a CE course. Have you ever come back wondering how you are going to implement everything you just learned there? Complexity and causes overwhelm and is therefore the death of execution. If itnis complex you won’t do it. If its simple and step by step your chances go up dramatically.
5) Get going! Don’t Delay begin Implementing Today
You have listed all of your highest priority tasks and its now time to get started. Remember: what gets scheduled gets done! You must create a detailed weekly schedule that will help you stay focused and on track. USE OUR WEEKLY PRODUCTIVITY PLANNER! (you can download it for free at HighPerformancePractice.com)
6) Expect that it won’t work out perfectly!
As mentioned above the path to success is not a straight line. You will make mistakes and you will fail. But don’t quit. Don’t forget that failure is simply a learning opportunity. Take this opportunity to grow and progress! The more we learn the more we earn, so just keep on learning and keep on executing. You will get there no doubt! There are days where you may not feel like it but we must be disciplined enough to push past those moments. Discipline, is the ability to do something even when we don’t feel like it. This is a habit! Like any habit it can be created with practice. The more disciplined you become, the more your willpower muscle grows which makes your more resistant to external distractors and negative emotions in future. You become more equipped to stay focused and get to your goal faster.
